This short but intensive course (for adults) is designed for existing yoga teachers or elementary school teachers who want to learn to teach yoga to children. The Yoga Academy International Children’s Yoga Teacher Training covers extensive materials in yoga, including asana, meditation, pranayama, music, philosophy and delivers them in a way that is comprehendible and fun for children. This course is light-hearted, up beat and full of laughs. Bring out the child in you as you become a children’s yoga teacher! This course will be taught by Yoga Academy International founder/director Lauren Rudick. 

The focus of this awesome program is to help bring mindfulness into the classroom in a practical and non-denominational way and to teach a full children’s yoga class. This training is to learn how to teach yoga, meditation and mindfulness to children ages 4 – 14. Sessions will take place over 2 weekends.

Curriculum

This course will touch on:

  • Yoga History and Philosophy and how to gear it toward children
  • The 8 limbs of yoga and how to discuss them with children
  • Introducing children to Pranayama (yogic breath work)
  • Teaching Children to meditate
  • Incorporating meditation techniques into the classroom
  • Yoga asana (poses) for children
  • Story telling through yoga
  • Music and Mantra
  • Designing and sequencing children’s yoga classes

Attendance is mandatory at both weekends in order to get your children’s yoga teacher certification.

Lauren’s extensive years of yoga practice combined with a decade of yoga teaching to both children and adults is the perfect offering for yoga teachers and elementary school teachers. 

Each day will start with an energizing and fun group yoga class. The intensive children’s yoga teacher training program will take place over 2 weekends.

Sample daily Saturday & Sunday schedule:

  • 9am yoga flow practice & meditation
  • 10am – 1pm course content
  • 1pm – 3pm lunch break
  • 3:00pm – 6pm course content, practicum, teaching

Sample Monday schedule:

  • 6pm yoga flow practice & meditation
  • 7-8:30pm course content, practicum, teaching

Accreditation & Tuition

Yoga Academy International is a recognized and registered yoga school with Yoga Alliance. When you graduate our course you will be a certified children’s yoga teacher. 

For those who have already graduated from a registered 200hr yoga teacher training program, this course counts as 60hrs toward Yoga Academy International’s 300hr YTT. This children’s yoga teacher training is an elective module of our advanced 300hr yoga teacher training. On completion of 4 modules of our 300hr yoga teacher training, you can register as RYT-500 with Yoga Alliance. 

Tuition for this program is $555CAD + HST. Your children’s yoga training includes:

Location

This teacher training will be held at Town Loft, Kingston Ontario. It takes place over two weekends; Saturday, Sunday and Monday evening. 

Participants must be present for both weekends in order to complete the course and receive their children’s yoga certification.
